Call for Volunteer Program Officer

1 Background

The Medical Women Association of Tanzania (MEWATA) is a Professional Association established in 1987 and registered in 1989. It brings together female medical and dental practitioners across Tanzania, with the mission to promote their professional development and enable them to deliver quality healthcare services to women in the country.

2 Purpose of the Position

The volunteer Program Officer will support the MEWATA office in its daily operations, including program implementation, administrative tasks and community engagement activities, in line with the Association's mission and vision.

3 Key Responsibilities

• Assist with filing, data entry, and documentation
• Write project proposals
• Maintain MEWATA membership database
• Support the organization and coordination of meetings, workshops and events
• Draft letters and reports as needed
• Assist in maintaining MEWATA's social media presence and website content
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of workspaces
• Manage office supplies and equipment inventory
• Perform any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor, consistent with the volunteer's skills and MEWATA's needs

4 Qualifications and Requirements

• Female Medical Doctor
• Basic research and proposal writing skills
• Good written and oral communication skills in English and Swahili
• Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office, email, PowerPoint)
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to volunteerism
• Residing in Dar es Salaam
