The MEWATA Wogging event held on April 20th, 2024, marked the beginning of a significant fundraising campaign for the construction of the MEWATA Women Wellness Centre. The event took place at the MEWATA WWC ground in Mbweni and was attended by esteemed guests, including the Honorable Minister of Health, Ummy Mwalimu, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, along MEWATA's Guardian and the Hon. Member of Parliament of Mchinga, Lindi, Mama Salma Kikwete and other government officials.
During the event, the Minister of Health congratulated MEWATA on this milestone achievement and emphasized the importance of the Women Wellness Centre in providing better health services to women and children in Tanzania.She highlighted the crucial role of prevention strategies in reducing healthcare costs for Tanzanian women and children, expressing confidence that the Women Wellness Centre would effectively fulfill this objective.
On the other hand Hon. Mama Salma Kikwete reflected on the several campaigns spearheaded successfully by MEWATA that aimed at providing health education and free screening of Cervical and Breast cancer to women in different areas in Tanzania. She also noted that these campaigns served a big role in showing the true picture of increased cases of Non-communicable diseases, including Breast and cervical cancer.
This event served as a rallying point for MEWATA members and supporters, showcasing their commitment to improving healthcare access and outcomes for women and children across Tanzania. With the Minister of Health's endorsement and encouragement, MEWATA embarks on its mission to build the Women Wellness Centre, poised to make a lasting impact on the health and well-being of communities throughout the country.
