
Personal Experience
Dr. Esther John Matoro is a dedicated medical professional and leader in public health. She serves as the Medical Officer In-Charge at Mbagala Round Table Health Centre under Temeke Municipal Council, Dar es Salaam, a role she has held for over five years, providing clinical oversight and managerial leadership. She is currently a Public Health Resident at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), where she is advancing her expertise in health system management.
Dr.Esther has pursued extensive professional development, including Leadership and Monitoring & Evaluation training at Mzumbe University, the Global Primary Health Care program with the International Institute of Primary Health Care–Ethiopia and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health virtually and Gender Transformative Leadership training under Women in Global Health.
Her professional interests focus on health systems strengthening, gender equity in health and public health policy implementation. She is committed to becoming a more effective leader by enhancing her skills in policy advocacy, organizational change management and stakeholder engagement, which she believes are essential for influencing decision-making and driving sustainable health initiatives.
Recognized for her honesty, dedication and self-motivation, Dr. Esther is also admired for her open-mindedness, optimism and strong teamwork spirit. She is passionate about advancing equitable, accessible and sustainable health services for communities in Tanzania and beyond.
Through her work and leadership, Dr. Esther contributes to the mission of strengthening health care and fostering resilient, community-centered health systems that improve the well-being of all.
